Tournament Philosophy
Tournaments are one of the most enjoyable features of membership at ACTC. They are primarily organized by our volunteers, usually board members and the club pro. Club tournaments are open to full members of the club in good standing only.
We have two goals which we strive for in all our tournaments. The first goal emphasizes socializing, fun, sharing food, meeting new members and enjoying play with a wide cross section of members. The second goal emphasizes the enjoyment of competitive tennis under tournament conditions.
The “social” tournaments provide an opportunity for members to get to know each other. The emphasis is on fun rather than competition.
The "competitive" tournaments are organized for members to enjoy some competitive tennis. Players are seeded for these tournaments and the competition can be very good and challenging. For the players moving into the semi-finals and finals, it can be a major physical challenge due to the amount of tennis played within a short period of time. All members are encouraged to participate as a way to build experience and test your skills under tournament conditions.
There are typically five categories: Men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Members may register for multiple draws, for example, singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
Format
All registrants will be entered into a main draw.
Each match will be a Pro Set (first to win 8 games).
If games are tied at 7/7 players will play a 7-point tie break to determine the winner.
There are no Adds so at 40/40 players will play a sudden death point. If it is a doubles, match the receiving team may choose on which side to receive.
At the end of the match the winners must report the match score via email to jordanmaster@hotmail.com so that the next matches can be set.
